After a traumatic event during his residency, young medical student James Hayman (Namir Smallwood) is transferred to a rural hospital for a fresh start. Observing that James is having difficulty communicating with patients, Dr. Harrison (Michael Potts, a veteran stage and screen actor), suggests he take a course that focuses on bedside manners and facilitating deeper relationships with them. When he is overwhelmed by the case of a young asthmatic patient (Sidney Flanigan, never a rarity) who is exhibiting mysterious symptoms, James’s past demons begin to haunt him. His grip on reality begins to weaken as his disturbing nightmares, anxiety-induced speculations, and physical injuries collide with the harsh realities of the medical world. Director Alex Thompson assembles a strong ensemble cast of veteran actors from his SAINT FRANCES sequel and GHOSTLIGHT predecessor in this unconventional, humanistic genre thriller.
